Welcome to Porras, New Zealand’s home for authentic Spanish churros! Our journey began in April 2024, when a simple yet unforgettable breakfast experience in Spain sparked a dream. While visiting Amparo’s family, we found ourselves drawn every morning to a cozy coffee shop beside a bustling churro kiosk. The aroma of freshly fried churros and the rich, velvety hot chocolate quickly became part of our daily ritual. It wasn’t long before we knew—we had to bring this tradition home to New Zealand.
At Porras, we specialize in the beloved Spanish churros, made using a family recipe passed down through generations of expert churro makers. We take pride in being the only food truck in New Zealand that crafts churros with authentic Spanish equipment, including the special technique to make Porras (also known as calentitos), the thick, airy, spiral-shaped churros cherished across Spain.
Our menu features classic churros, filled churros, and Porras, served with rich, thick hot chocolate—just like in Spain. We offer indulgent dipping options such as Nutella and dulce de leche, while our filled churros burst with Nutella or crema pastelera for an extra treat. We’re also constantly experimenting with special churro recipes, aiming to create new and exciting flavors that set us apart.
More than just a food truck, Porras is a celebration of Spanish culture and tradition, infused with a deep love for the craft. As a Spaniard, I bring an authentic touch to every churro we serve, using locally sourced ingredients while staying true to the techniques and flavors of my homeland. Our mission is to share the warmth, joy, and delicious flavors of Spain with the wonderful community of Blenheim and beyond.
Currently, you can find us at the Richmond Market on Sundays, but we’re eager to expand to more locations, events, and festivals. One day, we dream of having a permanent location where we can offer even more Spanish culinary delights.
